Stage One of the 2015 Giro d’Italia is a 17.6km Team Trial. Starting in the city of San Lorenzo al Mare, the 198 starters will tackle this quick trip along the Italian Adriatic coast, ultimately ending in San Remo. There is one timed intermediate point—Arma di Taggia, just shy of 10kms into the route. It is predicted that this stage will be quick and short, with teams taking approximately 20 minutes. The first rider to cross the line of the fastest team will pull on the first pink jersey of the Giro!
So who will win? My guess is that Team BMC and Orica-GreenEDGE will be very competitive, especially since they don’t have true GC riders for this particular race. So, success today would “make” their Giro a success regardless of the rest of the three weeks. That being said, Etixx-Quick Step is usually very good at this discipline as well!
