The Grand Fundo is similar to a gran fondo, but more fun! I first heard of the FUNdo three years ago. It’s a ride in Jeremy Powers’ (Jelly Belly Pro Cycling Team and Team Rapha Focus) training ground. It would be a no-drop ride and there would be a party after! How often am I going to get a chance to ride with pros and not get dropped? I would be crazy not to go.

I participated in, the first event two year’s ago, which more than exceeded my expectations. At the start of the ride, I looked to my left and there was Lyne Bessett riding along beside me. The ride is challenging with over 20 miles of dirt roads. The first half of the 65-mile ride is mostly up hill. There is also a longer and hillier option called the HUNdo because it will feel like a hundred miles. The rest stop has an ice cream truck with drinks and, of course, ice cream.

The post-ride party is on a farm and features music, a pig roast, and some nice local beer. They have a huge raffle with tons of cycling gear donated by the sponsors. This year Jeremy Powers bike from last season will also be raffled off –the Team Rapha-Focus limited edition team issue Focus Mares complete bike! You don't need to be present to win. Raffle tickets can be purchased atby clicking here..

The event raises money to help fund the J.A.M. Fund. The fund helps young, motivated cyclists reach their potential both on and off the bike, and helps to remove the financial limitations cycling can present. The J.A.M. Fund and the local cycling community team up to do this by providing support and mentorship to aspiring cyclists.

You can join Jeremy Powers and his Jelly Belly teammates, Brad Huff and Emerson Oronte, along with the J.A.M. Fund Team at the Grand FUNdo on Saturday, July 14th at 10:00 AM, 155 Glendale Rd in Southampton, MA. Registration on Bikereg: https://www.bikereg.com/Net/15836 closes Friday at 5:00 PM.
