Today saw the first day for the sprinters with the expected winner, Peter Sagan (CAN) winning his first stage of the 2013 edition of the AMGEN Tour of California (ATOC). Sagan had been on survival mode with the heat so high the past few days, dedicating his win today to his teammate, Mauro da Dalto. Dalto suffered from mild heat stroke yesterday being transferred to the hospital for treatment. “I’m very happy for this win, we can take this victory for him,” Sagan remarked. Michael Matthews of Orica Greenedge finished 2nd, with American sprinter, Tylar Farrar of Garmin-Sharp in 3rd.
