Stage 2 of the AMGEN Tour of California started in the shadow of the golden gate Bridge, before the riders stood nearly 70 miles of rolling coastal roads before the stage got tough. With over 4,900 feet of climbing in the last 46.5 miles the course would likely put an end to any early breakaway.
