UnitedHealthcare's Brad White Wins Wilmington Grand Prix
Brad White made it three victories in three years at the Wilmington Grand Prix on Saturday, as the UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team rider soloed to the line in the pouring rain. White credited his tires and plenty of hours of foul weather training as critical factors in the win. White talked about the victory after a standout performance, "I couldn't be more excited to take my third win in a row at the Wilmington Grand Prix. It's a great race with a good atmosphere and hard course."
The race started in the sunshine, but the weather turned about 10 minutes into the action. Soon, the wind was blowing and the rain began. The treacherous conditions reduced the front group to just 20 riders. The UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team moved to the front of the pack to protect White, and picked up the pace in the process. White took this opportunity to attack, taking four riders with him. The break established itself, and with teammates covering every move behind him, White was able to focus on working towards the win.
